The Ultimate Fighter Season Premiere

The Good:

1. Erik Paulson is a coach on the show. Anyone that knows me knows that I am a big fan of Erik Paulson. In my opinion, he is the best MMA coach around. He is extremely creative, and technically he is awesome. I look forward to hearing what he has to say on the show.

The Bad:

1. The fighters didn’t have to fight to get into the house, so we don’t know how good they are.

2. It’s the same old rules. I think we’ll have a lot of uneventful takedowns again this season. What I mean by that is that I don’t think contestants should be allowed to take a guy down and lay on him for a whole round. It makes the fights boring. I have long wished for the day, when fighters don’t get credit for a takedown unless they either attempt a submission, or score strikes on the ground. If there is no action, the fighters should be forced to stand back up.

The Ugly:

1. Looking at the previews from the upcoming episodes, it looks as though the fighters in the house will lose control once again and make all martial artists look stupid. It may make for great TV, but it makes martial artists look like thugs, and it’s a sad commentary on the sport.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Let me know what you think. Post a comment below.
