Phenomenal Lock-flow Video
Posted: April 19, 2014
This is an old video, but when a friend shared it on facebook, I wanted to share it with all of our students and friends.
At our Academy, We work different lock-flows. A lock-flow is a series or chain of locks which come one after another into a functional flow. The purpose of doing a lock-flow is two-fold.
1. It enables the student to get a lot of reps in a short period of time, and puts the locking into muscle memory.
2. It enables the student to flow to a different lock depending upon the defense employed by his opponent.
We know that real combat does not necessarily flow from A, to B, to C; but mastering a lock-flow enables you to adjust “on the fly” and continually attack your opponent. It is a great training technique.
The following is a lock-flow on the ground, performed by Yori Nakamura. It is probably the best example of a lock-flow that you are likely to see. He is a phenomenal, world-class, martial artist.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.
