Elite Martial Arts

Mountain Dew and Martial Arts

Posted: December 19, 2011

There are a lot of Martial Arts movies, and a lot of action stars.  So, why don’t we see more martial artists in commercials?

Who knows, but there is one company that likes to use martial artists in their commercials.  “Mountain Dew” (I believe they are owned by Pepsi.)

The below 3 commercials feature Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, and Steven Segal.

The Journey of a Thousand Miles…

Posted: December 17, 2011

We have all heard some version of this quote before, and there is great truth in it.  As I watched each of our students take their tests this past week, I was extremely proud to see them move further along on their respective martial arts journeys.

A Black Belt is just a White Belt that never gave up, and had the internal fortitude to keep placing one foot in front of the other to continue on their journey.

My wish for each of our students is that they continue to keep moving forward.  Not only in martial arts, but also in their professional lives and in their relationships.  I hope that one day they look back and see all the strides that they have made and enjoy the sense of accomplishment and confidence that comes from taking a journey in the martial arts.

Haywire Trailer

t’s nice to see that someone in MMA is actually getting a real chance in Hollywood. I have no idea if this movie will be any good or not, but it has a lot of stars in it. Someone in Hollywood must really believe in Gina Carano.

The State of the Educational System

Posted: December 17, 2011

I came across this article and thought it was pretty balanced, so I decided to comment on it. No matter how you slice it, it seems that the educational system of this country is in trouble.

If you live in Florida and have children, then I’m sure you’ll be really upset after finding out that 89% of our kids did not make adequate improvements this year.

Unlike the media, I’m not looking for someone to blame. Instead, I’m thinking of what I can do to make a difference.
