Great Trapping

Posted: March 20, 2012

As a JKD and Kali Instructor, I find that most people are not very familiar with trapping.

I came across this video of Rick Young, who is a very well respected JKD/Kali Instructor. He shares the same lineage as I do, and our students should be able to recognize the techniques and principles that he demonstrates.

His has been with my instructor for many years, and his skill level is phenomenal. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Martial Arts and Football Applications

Posted: March 07, 2012

Most people don’t realize how martial arts can affect the way we do things and make us see things in a different light.

I came across this video of Tim Tackett, and Chris Kent teaching the 1990 San Francisco 49ers.

Both of these men share the same lineage as we do here at Elite Martial Arts.

Congratulations on Achieving Your Black Belt

Posted: March 05, 2012

Congratulations to Greg and Chauncy on passing their Black Belt test this past weekend. They did an excellent job on this very difficult test. The test itself was about eight and a half hours, so I’m sure that they will be sore for the next week or so.

We’d like to offer our special thanks to everyone that helped us on the sparring portion of the test. Namely: Ian, Dane, DeWayne, Brandon, Dan, Joe, and Fred. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.

A Great Time in Jacksonville

Posted: March 02, 2012

On February 25th and 26th, I and some of the students here at Elite Martial Arts had the privilege of attending a Dan Inosanto seminar in Jacksonville.

Everyone had a great time, and it was great for my students to be able to meet and learn from my teacher.

I would encourage anyone regardless of their “style” or martial arts background to attend one of Guro Dan’s seminars. More information on future seminars can be found on his website.
